Four parks local to Marigold are getting an upgrade!
The Victorian Government has allocated $154 million dollars to deliver the Suburban Parks Program, which will include $465,000 in funding to upgrade four parks in Tarneit. The project will refresh these open spaces with improved play equipment, new nature play areas, fitness equipment stations and seating.
This is incredibly exciting news for Marigold residents who are located within a stone’s throw from all four parks (all within a 7-minute drive)!
The four parks that are receiving the upgrade are:
- Camelot Park
- Samaria Street Park
- Moondara Street Park, and
- Tarneit Lakes
Each of the parks has been assessed to address the community needs and upgrade requirements of each park. The program has also allowed for community consultation on the plans which has recently closed.
The below improvements have been proposed for each of the spaces:
Camelot Park:
- new nature play areas added to the existing playground
- a fenced off-leash dog area to be built
Samaria Park:
- Upgraded fitness equipment,
- new nature play areas
- tree planting
Moondara Street Park:
- The upgrade will include a range of exciting new play spaces
- landscaping to refresh the park
Tarneit Lakes:
- Upgrade fitness equipment stations throughout the park.
This is a huge win for Marigold residents and the entire rapidly expanding Tarneit community. As one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Melbourne, the demand for open space has soared in recent years. Tarneit is fortunate to have an array of public open spaces at the disposal of its residents and these upgrades will ensure locals continue to have easy access to nature and engaging active public spaces that people from all walks of life can enjoy close to home.
Now that community consultation has closed, the feedback will be reviewed and the approved plans are expected to be finalised by the end of the year. Construction work is expected to begin by early to mid-next year and is anticipated to be completed in late 2022.
The improved parks will provide valuable recreation spaces for Marigold residents and will continue to ensure community health and wellbeing now and into the future.
