Reunion Parade Culvert Construction Update

The Marigold community in Tarneit is the perfect blend of serenity and urban convenience. Its prime location boasts convenience to established amenity and proximity to natural open spaces surrounding the community.

Within the community, lucky residents have access to two local neighbourhood parks, Gathering Grove Park within Stage 4 of the community and the newly completed Frog Way Park in Stage 10. With almost one quarter (over 14 hectares) of the community’s gentle, undulating landscape exclusively reserved for natural open space.

Meandering through the centre of the community is the Linear Creek Reserve, providing water views and extensive passive open space. Complete with cycling and walking shared paths for all to enjoy, this area will be a celebrated space connecting Marigold’s residents to the natural environment.

The community’s east and west portions on either side of the Linear Creek Reserve will be connected via a culvert that allows water in the creek reserve to flow underneath and creates a base for the road network and traffic to cross over the top.

Read on for a breakdown of the construction process.

The culvert construction begins with the installation of a thick concrete base slab to cover the designated area. This concrete slab requires a huge amount of concrete, requiring a new concrete truck arriving to supply the concrete every 15 minutes.

Once the slab has been poured, like all concrete, it must cure and harden for at least 7 days.

Specially designed large concrete blocks are then delivered in a coordinated effort, with multiple truck loads. Each concrete block is laid in its position on top of the base slab with the use of a crane and connected together to form a channel for the water to flow through.

Once the blocks are in place, the gas and water services are laid alongside the road network and the whole area is filled in and compacted in preparation for the road layers.

Work on the culvert is currently underway along Reunion Parade and is anticipated for completion in line with the delivery of Stage 11 & Stage 7.

Stay tuned for future construction updates coming soon!
